Day 11.....On to Kudasai
Before we left Pamakkule.....
Soldier to self, "They look harmless".
Next morning we stopped for a quick photo op below the calcium cliffs of Pamukkale. Some military gents were nice enough to take a group picture. I don't think they realized what they had gotten themselves into until it was too late. But as we have found during this trip, the Turkish people are very friendly. How can anyone say no to a bunch of fun lovin' Americans.
Afrodisias.....the name fits the place....beautiful.
A true representation of an off the beaten path, we made a stop at the ruins of Afrodisias. I love the "romantic" back story of this place. This place was the love of Professor Ksenan T. Reim. He spent his life work at the site and is even buried there.
Finally I get to eat "Turkish Pizza".
Yum!
After visiting the ruins, we were taken to our lunch stop. An open air resturant with much attitude. Parrots and peacocks with a wandering muscian. As usual the food was fantastic.
On to our final destination .....the port town of Kudasai
The rest of the day was spent traveling to Kudasai. After locating our hotel, I went for a little exploratory walk, did some housekeeping, and relaxed in this beautiful seaport.
Day 12....Could it be that the best really is saved for last? Ephesus
Just simply amazing!
Library of Celsus
An early start fro us on this next to the last day of the tour. Aseugal was adamant that we be on time. She is so smart! She wanted us to arrive early at Ephesus so we could miss the multitudes....for a while. So for a short time, we had the place almost to ourselves and a some cats. The scope of the ruins was amazing and beautiful. Included in our tour was a ticket to enter the Terraced Houses.....simply amazing. Yet another place that fueled the imagination. Enjoy!
The Last Supper
The bus driver is not left out!
As with all Rick Steve's tours, the last supper is very special and this tour was not any different. A great meal with special little gifts made this meal a memorable one. The "reading" provided many laughs and a few tears were shed with our farewells.
It was a great end to a wonderful trip!
