Day 8..........Antalya
Leaving Konya, we made our way across the Taurus Mountains stopping along the way for cave exploration and lunch. The cave was beautiful and we were rewarded with a underground lake view that came with a hearty appetite for lunch!

Along the highway there were vendors selling local produce. We stopped at one and generously contributed to the local economy.
Antalya
Our sweet hotel.
In Antalya our hotel was located in Kaleici (Old Antalya). We left the bus outside of this pedestrian only area and after meeting at the hotel, we went on an orientation walk through the beautiful, winding passages of the old town.
The Turkish Bath
On our way to Antalya, Aseugal had informed us that a perfect time was approching to experience a famous Turkish Bath. Needing to make reservations, she asked for a head count of who wanted to go. At first the more bashful among us were reluctant to take part in this Turkish ritual, but by the end of a good "bus shaming" all (I think) the women signed on. Just another first of many on this Rick Steve's tour! Overnight train, check. Hot air ballon, check. Turkish bath, half-naked with women I've only known for a week, BIG check. :)
Day 9.....Our vacation from our vacation
The Cruise
"Vaca from the vaca" vessel
The 9th day found us traveling to the coast and on the Mediterranean for a sea cruise. The crew had us in their capable hands as they guided us to (what we call around here) a PARTY cove! The first mates scurried around preparing lunch as the Captain bought some of the main course fresh from a local who puttered his little boat between the larger vessels. Swimming, reading, sleeping, even an impromtu yoga session were some of the activities pursued by our group. It was so nice to relax in a beautiful location.
The Hall of Gods
On the way back to the hotel, we were given the option of visiting Antalya's The Hall of Gods. After given directions on how to get back to the hotel, some of us were dropped off at the museum. The Greek antiquities were impressive and what was even more impressive was our ability to get back to our home base on the little tram. As the norm on this trip, we had an engaging conversation with a local on the tram. What we travel for!
Tram Action.....We came, we saw, we navigated on our own!....with a little help from our new friend!
After waiting at the tram stop for what seemed an eternity, some of our group hopped on a city bus. They were convinced it would take them to the right stop (it did). The rest of us patiently waited for a tram. We got on the next one, not absolutely sure it was the right one. We met a local student(who spoke great English) on the tram who assured us we were on the right one. Travel guardian angels are everywhere.
Off to a hotel supper .....and a good night sleep......till tomorrow.
